Episode 62: Awarding for Participation

Mediocrity, a “culture of participation trophies”…call it what you want. There comes a time, in LIFE, when we need to let up on protecting kids from the tough stuff. Like Katie (brown hair) says, “LIFE IS HARD”…when should we let our kids experience the hard? If you swoop in and engage all the time when will they learn how to work through things? Not sure there’s a right answer…but what we know for sure…it’s NOT easy from the parental perspective! Katie (blonde hair) approaches this from a professional capacity, what happens when you don’t teach children self sufficiency or the difference between participation and excelling at a young age bleeds into the workspace. Participation doesn’t get the bonus or the new position…excellence does (or should). What do you think?
